]]>The work includes both qualitative and quantitative methods of research, involving 8 face-to-face depth interviews with Church of England clergy and a web survey amongst the wider clergy. When asking what churches are already doing to help alleviate poverty in their parish, 73% said they held organised activities to help with school work, 31% provide services for mental health, counselling, bereavement and stress, whilst only 3% provide organised pregnancy advice and sex education.
Despite most church leaders (in the qualitative study) clearly explaining that their work in the community was conducted with no agenda to grow the church, 28% claim that the work they have done to alleviate poverty has contributed to church growth.
